Updated 3M National Teaching Fellowship Award Guidelines Now Available

The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) and 3M Canada are pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2021 3M National Teaching Fellowship Award.

The 3M National Teaching Fellowship Award is open to all Canadian post-secondary educators, regardless of discipline or level of appointment. Up to ten awards are given each year with the intent to recognize and reward an exceptional educator—one who, in addition to being known for extraordinary teaching, also demonstrates educational leadership, promoting exemplary teaching in others through educational innovation.

In celebration of a 35-year partnership, STLHE and 3M Canada signed a new agreement. This agreement prompted an extensive review of the 3M National Teaching Fellowship Award. As a result, the 2021 call for nominations includes a newly revised nomination package and guidelines.

You can view the revised call for nominations at: https://www.stlhe.ca/awards/3m-national-teaching-fellowships/. The submission deadline is January 15, 2021.

    CTLT Winter Institute

From December 14-17, 2020, UBC faculty, staff, postdocs and graduate students are invited to a week of complimentary online professional development workshops during the mid-academic year to reflect on the impact their teaching, learning, and technological practices have on online student learning and experiences. The theme of the 2020 Winter Institute is, Sustainable, Inclusive & Thriving Online Teaching and Learning Communities.

For the first time, the Institute will also feature a multi-day program. Transitioning to Online Teaching: A Blended Approach is designed to explore different approaches to online teaching, and blend synchronous and asynchronous online components. December 15th is “Wellbeing Day” with sessions examining the wellbeing of educators and students amid the transition to remote teaching and learning.

Deadline: Ongoing. Please see the Fund page for more information.

Classroom Wellbeing Research Invite (The TEACHERS Project)

    The TEACHERS Project ~ Research

We are inviting you (and your class) to be a participant in a research project involving faculty training and support to integrate targeted wellbeing interventions into your class.  Research very strongly supports that student wellbeing, more specifically addressed and supported in classrooms, is linked to learning. This project aims to help you do that with little effort. If you are tight on time, have limited “know how” or resources for student wellbeing, and/or are keen to help students be well and learn, it would be wonderful to have you be a part of our research project.  Please email sally.willis-stewart@ubc.ca or jannik.eikenaar@ubc.ca for more information.
